With hard-hitting punch lines and over-the-top metaphors, Matt Lucas tends to be a fan favorite when it comes to lyrical frenzies. His ability to capture the vision he has for his music is second to none and if you are a part of his team then feel privileged to play a role in his musical masterpieces. If you’re looking for an artist who never disappoints when it comes to their mind-bending wordplay, then Matt will deliver over and over again.

Matt doesn’t have a specific type of music he makes. Instead, he creates what sounds good to him. He sees his music as a work of art. Like “when you go to an art gallery, the artist is rarely available to explain their work, so you are left to interpret what you feel the artist is trying to express.” He may not have the capacity or maybe he just plain doesn’t want to explain his music. Maybe you are going to understand what he means. Maybe you won’t. His hopes are, with all his music, that you feel something.

When making music, Matt likes to say what’s on his mind at the moment. At the time of recording Matt’s lyrics, there was a lot going on here in Memphis as well as a lot going on personally with Matt and his relationships. Recording the emotional devastations and revelations would have been ideal but we all know hard times call for time-consuming, stress-filled priorities. Matt explained how he felt it would be “hella irresponsible to hop on a song and talk some gangsta shit” when the world around him was already in chaos. With all of his internal turmoil and trying to find his place in the world, he cut loose and helped create On My Block (Remix).
