Soni Releases “Ugly Looks Good On Me”

After having a solid release of Sol Cerca, Soni put out his newest album Ugly Looks Good On Me. He now has two albums under his belt along with some other collaboration projects. ULGOM is exactly what you expect from Soni which to some people is exactly why you listen to him. I’m a huge fan of an artist experimenting, but Soni seems to be sticking to what he’s good at (and he’s really good).

This 16 song album is full of emotion, lyrics genius, and plenty of sounds that will leave you wondering who can put in work like Soni. It is truly amazing the work he has put together over his career in music. It has not been a large amount of music but it has been diverse and creative. His body of work is something most artists strive to achieve over many collections of albums. I don’t think I’ve seen an artist that has capitalized on their skills and abilities the way that he has.

My favorite song on the album is Raikage. It has so much energy and gives you exactly the feeling you would want to get amped up. He makes several references to anime within this song and it has received high praise from those who are into that genre of entertainment. It can be risky to speak on things like that because people can be protective about that subject. He does it justice and makes those who are not into anime curious.

ULGOM was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Uproar Recording in Memphis, TN by Ryan Olson.
